When I saw Tommy in Belmarsh prison two weeks ago, he told me that he was receiving adequate meals and medical care — even the guards were courteous enough. But what did he tell me this time on my second visit? Here is the good, the bad and the ugly: 1. Tommy is healthy — he’s healthy physically, and he’s healthy psychologically, which is important to say because he was half-starved (he lost forty pounds, or three stone) and was suffering from PTSD when he left the prison in Onley last year. Last time, he was limited to one can of tuna and one piece of fruit per day, but now he has all the food he needs. 2. Tommy has still not received a single letter from anyone. He received mail on his first day there, but not in the one month since. Why? The prison is using the excuse that counterterrorism police have to examine each and every one of them. But that makes no sense — it’s been 28 days, and they haven’t passed on any more mail. What’s really going on here? And is reading Tommy’s mail really the top priority for British counterterrorism police — when there are 23,000 jihadists in the UK? I believe that this is a serious violation of Tommy’s rights. 3. Tommy is allowed up to two hours to meet with his visitors, but for some inexplicable reason, the prison refused to bring me (and Tommy’s other visitors) in for forty minutes after arriving — basically cutting Tommy’s visits in half, for no reason. And then we were told that we could not see Tommy without a K-9 officer escort — can you believe it? Here, click the image below to see my full report: I know that it might be crazy to travel all the way from Canada for a one-hour visit. (I actually made a time-lapse video of one of my trips — seven hours each way on the plane, plus a couple of hours each way by train and taxi.) But, as you know, I don’t trust anyone else to do the right thing. After all, the mainstream media openly despise Tommy and what he stands for — normal British working men and women. And if there’s one place where Tommy is completely helpless, it’s in prison, where the politically motivated prison authorities and Muslim prison gangs run the show. Let’s make sure that he gets out in one piece and they can’t pull a fast one — because, without us, there’s no scrutiny over what they might do. No-one to uphold the law. And no-one to keep the watch. Yours truly, Ezra Levant P.S. This is not the first time the prison staff have tried to pull the wool over our eyes. During my first visit to see Tommy in prison, they tried to force Tommy’s visitors to talk to him through a glass window, via a telephone, as if he’s a serial killer or something — but because I made a fuss about it, they backed down. And I think that was for one reason only — they know that if they mistreat Tommy, I’ll raise an international media storm about it. But this is a sign that the authorities will try to get away with anything they can. So if you think these visits are important, please consider chipping in a few pounds to help cover my economy-class airfare from Canada. You can do that by clicking here. Thanks. P.P.S.
