On 19 February, we published an exceptional REPORT revealing
the relations and numerous conflicts of interest between 18 judges and 7
NGOs active at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). We
identified, in just the last 10 years alone, no less than 88 cases in
which a judge has sat in cases involving the NGO he used to work for or
collaborate with.
The main NGO concerned is George Soros’ Open Society, which is
distinguished not only by its ideology, but also by the number of judges
linked to it (12) and by the fact that it funds the six other
organizations identified in this report.
The facts revealed in this report are extremely serious. No one has
contested them, not even the European Court, which for the time being
has chosen not to respond to them, even though we sent it the report in
advance. Sadly, some large media have chosen to stay silent as well.
Fortunately, the same cannot be said of all the press. The report is
spreading quickly throughout Europe and worldwide, reaching new
countries every day and all continents!
Just today, the prestigious “European Journal of International Law” published a presentation of the Report on its blog EJIL:Talk!
The Report is also being discussed in national parliaments (France and
Switzerland), and will be discussed next week by the European
Parliament.
We received many messages of support and thanks from lawyers, academics
and magistrates. In this regard, if you are a lawyer and would like to
support our work, please respond to this message. We will propose that
you sign a collective platform.
As a follow-up to this report, the ECLJ has decided to formally refer
the matter to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, in
accordance with Rule 67 of its Rules of Procedure, which provides for an
effective petition procedure.
The Bureau of the Assembly will be obliged to reply to it, and may decide to put it on the Assembly’s agenda. We invite you to join this petition.
