Sue Howarth and Robert Lynn were attacked on their farm in the middle of the night on Sunday by a masked gang who burned their bodies with a blowtorch, beat them around the head, knifed and shot them after tying them up.
The couple were eventually abandoned miles from their home and found by two friends the next morning who took them to hospital where Ms Howarth, who will be remembered as having “a heart of gold”, died on Tuesday.
