Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revealed that multiple individuals responsible for leaking ICE enforcement details have been identified and will face consequences. The leaks, which exposed plans for a large-scale ICE operation in Los Angeles, led to widespread protests and allowed criminal illegal immigrants to evade arrest.
Noem has been clear that such leaks jeopardize law enforcement officers and compromise national security. “When they leak information to the press in order to blow an operation, they are putting law enforcement lives in jeopardy,” she stated in an interview on Fox News. She assured that DHS is taking aggressive action to root out the sources.
DHS has been utilizing polygraph tests, email monitoring, and internal investigations to track down those responsible. Noem described the ongoing probe as a necessary step to clean out bureaucrats who undermine the department’s mission.
Since President Donald Trump took office, his administration has worked to reverse Biden-Harris policies that limited ICE’s ability to carry out large-scale deportations. However, opposition from sanctuary cities and anti-border activists has led to resistance at every step. The recent leaks further complicated efforts to remove dangerous criminals.
Noem confirmed that those responsible for leaking sensitive details will not only lose their jobs but could also face legal action. “If they are breaking the law, we are prosecuting and holding them accountable,” she said.
DHS has not yet released specifics about how many individuals have been identified or which agencies they belong to, but Noem indicated that more information would be made available as the investigation progresses.
