Elon Musk has officially launched a new political faction — The American Party.
On Saturday, Musk took to his platform, X, to announce the birth of the movement, citing overwhelming support from everyday Americans sick and tired of being trampled by both Democrats and establishment Republicans.
“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it,” Musk wrote.
“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”
The post came shortly after a July 4th-themed poll on X, where Musk asked: “Should we create the America Party?”
A staggering 1.2 million Americans participated in his poll. 65.4% said YES and 34.6% said NO.
Musk wrote, “One way to execute on this would be to laser-focus on just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts. Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people.”
Musk, who briefly led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) until his departure in May, blasted Trump over the One Big Beautiful Bill, calling it an “insane spending” disaster, claiming it will balloon the national debt by a staggering $3–5 trillion. He vowed to form the America Party “the next day” if the legislation passed.
The tension between Trump and Musk boiled over in early June when the X owner publicly criticized the legislation on his social media platform, prompting the president to fire back by labeling Musk a “big-time drug addict” and hinting at his ketamine use for depression. Trump also threatened to slash billions in federal contracts and subsidies for Musk’s companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, a move that sent Tesla’s stock plunging 14% in a single day.
Musk retaliated by suggesting Trump’s impeachment, alleging without evidence that Trump’s name appears in unreleased Jeffrey Epstein files, and even threatening to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, though he later backed off.
Details on the America Party remain sparse, but Musk has hinted at a centrist platform aimed at representing the “silent majority” disillusioned with partisan politics.
Republicans have criticized the decision, believing that it will give the Democrat Party an edge in 2026 and beyond.
Third-party efforts, from Ross Perot’s Reform Party to the Libertarians, have struggled to overcome America’s winner-take-all electoral system and stringent ballot access laws.

Jeg tror at Musk har forregnet sig her. Hvis hans parti virkelig skulle blive til noget, vil stemmerne nok komme mest fra republikanerne ,og det vil da øge risikoen for at det demokratiske parti vinder , trods deres socialisme og kæmpe overforbrug 🙁
Jeg kan sagtens forstå at Musk frygter den kæmpestore amerikanske offentlige gæld, som Trump OBBB plan vil øge.
Men politik er jo det muliges kunst, og Trumps flertal i kongressen er ikke stor, og der er mange RINOs etc, der kæmper imod og stemmer for demokraterne, der næsten altid stemmer en bloc mod Trump : hvis Trump siger A, siger de demokratiske zombier B , og omvendt …
Dertil kommer at Trump er nødt til at øge udgifterne til bekæmpning af de illegale indvandrere og det amerikanske forsvar mm , som Biden & CO jo har udsultet i 4 år.
Jeg er sikker på at Trump udmærket forstår at den amerikanske gæld er ALT FOR STOR : renterne alene er nu større end udgifterne til det amerikanske forsvar 🙁
Det lan man også se på Trumps toldpolitik 🙂
Men først efter 2028 midtvejsvalget har Trump – og MAGA – en chance for at få et større og mere MAGA-orienteret flertal, som så kan bruges til at nedskære de offentlige udgifter kraftigt
Trump – og Musk – startede jo DOGE – Department Of Efficient Government, som har fundet meget fråds og vanvid i de offentlige kasser :

lthough they are not making as many headlines as earlier this year when they were first introduced, the DOGE Team is hard at work and continues to save money for American taxpayers.
Earlier this week DOGE announced they had eliminated another $14.3 billion in bogus contracts, including international contracts tied to USAID.
The DOGE team terminated one contract tied to USAID worth $850,000 for a “resilience adviser” in Somalia.
Let’s hope the DOGE team digs deeper into that slush fund. Where do you suppose the money really went?

DOGE also terminated funding to the “director of the Armenian innovation hub” earlier this week.
DOGE is still working hard saving taxpayer dollars despite all of the pushback from Democrats. These leftists sure hate to see this easy money trickle away from their friends and associates.

Han, Musk, er blevet tøsesur, nu da han ikke længere kan lade sig hylde af Trumps vælgere.
Musk har været god til at ansætte dygtige ingeniører og lade dem bygge biler, raketter og andet teknisk, men nu er der blevet tyst omkring ham – larmende tyst.
