The midterms were disappointing, to say the least. You could see the momentum building in the poor Trump approval numbers way back in January when they already hit bottom. Before the Iran action and even before the ICE incidents.
At the beginning of this year, Trump had already delivered everyone massive tax cuts, a booming economy, record low crime and unemployment, and closed the border. The media however, excoriated him on the really important stuff. You remember, the price of eggs.
The weird, stupid logic of midterm elections just seems to drive a lot of voters. To the extent that California Dems could literally burn down part of their state and not be punished. That a vicious anti-Semite supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood could win easily in Michigan. And at this writing, an Alaska Senate candidate could rig up an enormous election conspiracy, complete with a decoy candidate. To be fair on the last one, John F. Kennedy did the same thing in 1946 and paid no price. JFK hired off a fake Joe Russo, a Boston janitor, to enter his primary; and this year Mary Peltola found a retired Dan Sullivan in a fishing village to confuse the voters.
Anyway, the next two years become shutdown theatre. The federal government needs to pass a new spending authority in December. One would hope the lame duck Congress would provide some automatic features to obviate the coming deadlock in 2027, but that may make too much sense. Everyone from Tom Massie to Darline Graham owes the country at least that much, but we shall see.
Then comes the federal debt limit next summer. Interestingly, a President may have extraordinary powers if no agreement can be reached. He can shut down nearly everything, from Congress to the courts, as long as he pays the bonded debt instruments. That could be wild.
But before all that happens, we need to finish off Iran. The rest of the Navy ships and Marines will be on hand in the coming weeks, and it’s now or never. The new Congress with all its Islamo-Communists will be doing everything they can next year to lose the war with Iran.
I think Pres. Trump was hoping the Iranians would eventually cave, and surely many of their leaders would. But the guys in real power are dead-enders who won’t, no matter how bad the civilians suffer. Time is running out.
To ensure a real victory, we are going to need to send an armored column into Tehran and topple the government. This could come through Kurdistan and a large body of Kurds, if armed, would join the attack. The Iranian conventional military has little punch left. Now, of course, the Iranian regime will want to take down as many as they can with them.
They will likely blow up the oil and gas infrastructure of their neighbors — especially everyone’s frenemy, Qatar. It is Qatar’s vast wealth that has paid for the Islamification of Europe and all the subsequent troubles. Payback from the Iranians could not happen to a better bunch of snakes. (The friendlier Gulf states spend money instead on less dangerous pursuits, like horse racing or golf tournaments. )
For all his bluster, Donald Trump always prefers to make a deal rather than fight it out. But I think the Iranian crazies and our own American voters have left him no choice. It’s time to end the wicked regime in Tehran this year.
