Five men have been arrested over their alleged role in protests against cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad, Scotland Yard said.
The five were alleged to have taken part in the 3 February demonstration which took place in London.
Four of them were held at their London homes in Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Redbridge and Southall and were taken to a police station for questioning.
A fifth man, who is from Birmingham, is being questioned in the West Midlands.
Last week police said arrests would be made “in the near future” over the protests outside the Danish Embassy on 3 and 4 February.

Last month I spent three weeks in middle-east and it was an astonishng experience. Middle-east and the ararb world is not only Islam (there are many christians) e the Islam is spread out from Mali to Indonesia. Islam is, mainly, moderate and used to living along with other religions. We’ve known many kinds of terrorism, even in Europe (North Ireland, Spain, Italy and Germany). I think we have to specify that Islam, in itself, is not a threat. But, obvioulsy, there are crazy people among them. I like christian people from North Ireland, but I didn’t like IRA bombs. We should talk more with islamic people and, maybe, we would understand why some cartoons can be felt such an offense. Never heard of “iconoclasty”?
