“Job growth soared in March—despite the military action in Iran”

“Since elections tend to rise or fall on the economy, this is good news for Republicans this November.”

Husk det, læste gang du ser danske fake-news-msm klynke over hvor “dårligt” det går i USA … 🙂

Trump’s been in office for a little over a year, so he owns the economy. So far, things have been going well. Inflation is down and, according to the March jobs report, employment is up. This is great news, since elections tend to turn on people’s sense of economic well-being, and that may help offset concerns about the midterms (but we should never get cocky, of course).

Breitbart sums up the economic news:

The U.S. economy added 178,000 workers to payrolls in March, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. That’s three times the consensus forecast of 59,000 and a sharp reversal from February’s revised decline of 133,000, which was dragged down by a large healthcare strike.

Even CNN cannot deny what is happening:

Again, that’s great news, not just politically, but also for the people who now have jobs. I know that, in my neck of the woods, employers are desperate for reliable employees. If people show up for work and do a good job, they’re in!

So, a few comments on this news:

First, it helps explain the Democrats’ desperation to keep DHS defunded. It’s not just about preventing any illegal aliens from being deported. By messing with airports, they were also messing with the economy. To retain power, they will destroy the economy. By figuring out how to pay TSA workers, Trump killed this plan.

Second, it’s telling that despite people’s unhappiness with current gas prices, those prices have seemingly not negatively affected the economy. In fact, gas prices are really not that high compared to what Americans have experienced in the last 18 years.

So, while we may regret paying more than we have been since Trump started his second term, what we’re seeing now is a return to what’s mostly been the norm for the last few years, before Trump got prices down. I’m not saying we should like this norm, but it’s not a crisis. Moreover, I’m optimistically certain that when this war ends with Iran’s surrender, oil prices will plummet, supercharging the economy.

Third, and really, most importantly in the short term, this is good news for the November elections, provided, of course, that nothing happens to derail what is clearly a jobs juggernaut. In ordinary times, vote with their pocketbooks. If things are going well, they’ll keep the current government in place; if they’re going badly, they’ll throw them out.

Still, despite the good news, this is not a time to get cocky. There’s many a slip betwixt cup and lip, and there are still seven months to go until the election. And of course, we know that the media will keep up a steady drumbeat of negativity to demoralize people into believing that life in America is chaotically awful.
